MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 Beta 5 Released for Testing
Apple has released the fifth beta version of MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 to users enrolled in the Mojave beta testing program.
No major new features are expected for macOS Mojave 10.14.6, suggesting that the update will likely focus on bug fixes and security enhancements.
Users doing beta testing of MacOS Mojave releases can find macOS 10.14.6 beta 5 available for download now from the Software Update System Preferences panel.
Apple typically goes through a variety of beta versions before releasing a final version of the system software for the general public. MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 is likely to be released at the same time as iOS 12.4, which is currently versioned as beta 6. |
It is quite likely that macOS 10.14.6 is the latest release version under MacOS Mojave, in addition to minor software updates, as Apple is actively working on the next major release of macOS system software, known as MacOS Catalina 10.15.
Please note that if you are currently beta testing MacOS Mojave, you will not get beta versions of MacOS Catalina and vice versa.
Anyone can apply to participate in the public beta testing programs for macOS (and iOS and ipadOS), but due to the faulty nature of the system software, it is generally only recommended for advanced users. If you are interested in doing so, you can learn how to install MacOS Catalina public beta here, iPadOS 13 public beta here and iOS 13 public beta here.
